I'm all in favour of modern, vernacular, plain stuff coming out of the religious or semi-religious sphere. Just a bad choice of repertoire. And no attention to the arrangement.
I can see why you like it as a context, and I'm with you there. My gripe is purely the content.
It could do more damage than good as far as I'm concerned. But, then, I am not in touch with the current USA context.
